Why should you train with De’Angelo Brown, also known as “Dee Brown?” As a trailblazer, he was the first in history from NJSD to play starter 5 at 7th grade and the points didn’t count until he entered high school. As a highly skilled and exceptional ball handler for his height, leading scorer and rebounder, and all-around player, he boasts an impressive array of accolades. During his time at the New Jersey School for the Deaf in West Trenton, NJ, he scored 1,884 points, earning him the National Player of the Year award. His numerous achievements include being selected as Mercer County’s Player of the Week, winning five ESDAA championships, and securing multiple AAU championships. Dee was named to the Columbus Multimedia All Mid-Atlantic Region Team (NCAA-III) and was selected as the NCAA-III Mid-Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year by Columbus Multimedia. He received multiple MVP selections for his high school, summer leagues, and AAU teams. Dee was offered spots at prestigious institutions such as Clemson University, Duke University, and Kansas University, but declined in favor of Gallaudet University due to its full accessibility. Notably, he became the first freshman in Gallaudet University’s history to receive the Rookie Player of the Year award in the CAC and the first freshman voted onto the CAC team, as selected by conference coaches. Dee’s experience extends to playing for the gold medal-winning team in Rome, Italy, and coaching at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, where he led the team to a championship in the CSSD tournament. USA TODAY recognized him as one of the top 30 out of 100 basketball players in the country. Although he was scouted by NBA head coaches at the NBA tryouts in Monmouth University, NJ, he was ultimately turned down due to his deafness. As a result of the adversity he faced, Dee is deeply passionate about mentoring youth and encouraging them to pursue their dreams. His ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact on the community and demonstrate to young people that they are capable of achieving anything they set their minds to. Currently, Dee works with the Lincoln High School girls’ basketball team and serves as the owner and trainer for “Got Basketball In You?” a training program for youth. He recently coached “Team Mamba” at the Jungle Basketball League, leading the team of 3rd and 4th graders to a second-place finish in the championship two years in a row. In his free time, Dee enjoys training and playing basketball with his three sons, who share his passion for the sport and aspire to follow in his footsteps.
